Our Philosophy
Photography: Painting with light
Light is my inspiration, my paint and brush. It is as vital as the model herself. Profoundly significant, it caresses the essential superlative curves and lines. Light I acknowledge as the energy upon which all life on this planet depends.
- Ruth Bernhard
We completely agree with the above quote. Light is what makes photography possible.
In fact, the very word "photography" comes from the greek words photo ("light") and
graphy ("to write"), meaning writing or painting with light.
Light is the raw material for creating a photograph.
- Ruth Bernhard
Cherished light
Dull light equals a dull photograph, no matter how strong the subject matter may be.
- John Shaw
When we start to see the light, we start to make photographs -
Photographs that are cherished.
This website is our modest attempt to cherish the beautiful light that allows us to make photographs;
cherish those magical moments presented by the nature to us.
- John Shaw
Rajan has been a snapshooter ever since he was presented with his first
point-and-shoot camera (Hotshot 35) when he was just 15... But he first understood the difference between
taking a photograph and making a photograph when he came across
a wonderful book called Photography and the Art of Seeing
by the well known photographer Freeman Patterson in 2004.
Rajan likes to travel with his wonderful wife Dimple and delightful, curious daughter Saaniya. Rajan is also an avid birder and enjoys bird photography along with landscape and macro photography. Capturing cherishable memories of his most precious model Saaniya is his favorite pasttime.
Dimple started her photography recently and quickly realized that she has a
keen eye for finding cherishable photo opportunities wherever she is. She believes in simplicity.
She enjoys traveling, exploring new places. She enjoys nature and landscape photography.
Rajan and Dimple both were fortunate to attend photography workshop conducted by Freeman Patterson
and Andre Gallant in 2007. It was one of the most productive time for both of them. They would like
to thank Freeman and Andre for the wonderful time and valueable guidance.
Rajan and Dimple would like to dedicate this site to Freeman Patterson.
